Love this!!! ❤️ Repost @nhneurotraining ・・・ This is the world’s first ever magnetic resonance image showing a mother and child’s bond. The image is of neuroscientist Rebecca Saxe kissing her two month old son. The child’s brain appears to be smoother and darker. This is because it has significantly less white matter. White matter is comprised of myelin, which is fatty tissue that acts as insulation for the wires that communicate messages inside your brain. The activations in the image do not refer to the act of kissing but to the organisation of functional activity in infant brains. Kissing causes a chemical reaction in your brain, including a burst of the hormone oxytocin. Oxytocin is often referred to as the ‘love hormone’ because it stirs up feelings of affection and attachment. Kissing activates the brain’s reward system; releasing dopamine which makes us feel good. It also releases vasopressin which bonds mothers with babies and romantic partners to each other. It also releases serotonin which helps to regulate our mood. #nhneurotraining

The only playlist you will need this Hispanic Heritage Month (well, maybe not the only one cause we got a few more 😀) we start w mambo king Perez Prado in the ‘50s and work our way to Cardi and the Latino Gang in this celebration of our music & cultura... of course there would be no gang if it weren’t for the legends who risked it all and opened doors way back when it wasn’t trendy to do so, I’m talking Ritchie, Gloria, Tito, Celia, Selena, and so many others..listen to this labor of love from all of us on the US Latin team @spotify (link in bio) #celebratelatinxs #hispanicheritagemonth #latinogang 🍾🥂🥂🥂

“Let’s make a toast to the past and the present / the future and the legends....We’ve danced over every wall ever built to stand in our way / let’s make a toast to let them know we are here to stay.” Watch the whole “Brindis” video on @vivalatino now, gracias @lesliegrace for lending your inimitable talents & beautiful spirit to this musical homage to our cultura and thank you @lileddie for creating such a beautiful poem for the piece. It’s the perfect kick-off to Hispanic Heritage Month. Leslie, I cannot wait to watch you in the In The Heights movie, the world aint ready baby girl!!!! You’ve worked so hard for so long but the masses are finally catching up. Huge congrats to the Viva Latino team for creating what is surely one of the most memorable pieces ever to run on the playlist. This team continues to surpass itself 🙌🏽 @lapuravida @tonefive @selvacity @franquijada @heyjessmolina @eldavidramos @mariasbt @marylur @aaarredondo @dan_behar @fguilhermino... shout out to @pedrobrcosta for being a part of this #hispanicheritagemonth #celebratelatinxs #lesliegrace

While in the 305 I caught up with this guy @tonyfl80 whom I’ve known since the 3rd grade. It’s amazing how with some friendships time really does not pass and you can pick up right where you left off no matter how many years go by and how busy we get. I just wanted to say something about the kind of friendship that goes way back to your childhood because those people know your core which hopefully doesn’t change much no matter your circumstances. Friends like that are one of life’s most precious gifts. That’s all. 💕

These official @spotify photos of @badbunnypr interacting with young fans from the @vivalatino live concert in Miami on Friday are so impactful they actually made me cry a little bit. This is the magic of Latin music today and always. It has immense power to move culture and influence generations. If Benito can do it then so can you ❤️🙏🏽 just dare to dream it #badbunny #vivalatinolive #lanuevareligion photo cred @happymonday

I was asked what my daily mantra is the other day for a magazine article. Truth is I didn’t have one for this new phase of my life so I landed on a pretty decent one that feels true to where I’m at right now: “Time is your most precious gift. Please don’t waste it feeling anxious over things that are outside of your control. Be present in all things & grateful for all things.” 🙏🏽 Also: “if you don’t have time to do more than put sunscreen on your face before you leave the house that’s OK” 😂

It’s simple math. We are the 200%. 100% Latinx, 100% American. All. The. Time. Get it? Got it? Good. We will never choose because why should we? 🤗 Repost @latinaspoderosas ・・・ 🇲🇽 🇺🇸 YAS @evalongoria on this @thedailyshow interview! We should be proud of our raices, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Real Talk: Even within our own community we are quick to tell others how they should identify. Let’s change that.

That time I came home from school to this teddy flower arrangement from Papi. Of course it’s the big things we remember but then there’s all the little gestures of love that add up and stay with us forever 💕 #tbt

Today is my last day of maternity leave. I have a lot of thoughts and emotions on the matter but above all gratitude. I don’t take a single day of it for granted. Thank you @spotify because you get that parents need this time to adapt to the biggest transition humanly possible. I can tell you that nothing makes a person want to work harder, better, faster, stronger than this. My creativity and efficiency are at their highest levels since I graduated college (remember that feeling of wanting to conquer the world and no one could tell you sh*t to discourage you?!!!). Will I be exhausted at times? You bet. Haven’t had a good night sleep in quite some time and that’s not about to change (hello teething!) But I can run quite well on low reserves. In fact it’s when you’re at that point that you often defy the standards of what’s possible and surprise everyone, yourself included. So let’s get this. Here’s to all workin’ moms and by that I most definitely also include stay at home mamas because that is the toughest job of all. I salute you! To my friends and peers en la industria: Mama’s back.

Saddened doesn’t even begin to describe what I feel about our recent domestic terrorism attacks and all gun violence in general. I am honestly sick to my stomach and even prayers aren’t helping much these days. When I was growing up I remember when the Gulf War happened and trying to wrap my head around the concept of war as a child. And then 9/11 happened and we all know what happened after. I always feared a Third World War of sorts involving nuclear weapons and total mass extinction (which, hey, is almost a guarantee the way we treat our only home called Earth). But never in my dreams would I have imagined this kind of war, one in which radicalization happens so easily online, breeding a new kind of destructive army starting so young. We can’t just bomb the sh*t out of 8chan or shut down Trump’s Twitter account (or can we?!). So how can we tackle this one? I don’t have the answer but I know it involves spreading more LOVE and rejecting this idea of “oh well, this is America.” It is a part of America, yes, but just like some of the other bloodied, shameful chapters in our nation’s history, there were people at every level who knew it was wrong and fought against it, putting their own lives and reputations at risk... God help us. It won’t be easy but man is it worth it. One day I pray I can tell my son how we came out the other side of all this.

Had to make it out (with baby, no less) to this Contact High exhibit of some of hip-hop’s finest photography at @annenbergspace. Felt several emotions but mostly nostalgia looking at some of these iconic pics ❤️📸 don’t miss it, it’s free and closes Aug 18th!
