#Day1 of our trip to the middle of nowhere.
While driving on those beautiful corrugated roads we came across some really unexpected wildlife. Did anybody know about the high donkey population in north east Northern Territory? Here and there we were cruising through some aboriginal communities on our way. At least the ones we were allowed to enter. We were already a few hours on the road when we saw the first white person wandering through one of the communities. And it was a very familiar one.. So it turned out we actually knew this person! It's hilarious 😂 We met this guy a few days ago in Darwin and found out he's working in one of the communities. How random! He recommended us a nice spot near a river for camping but also mentioned it's a bit tricky to find. We knew we wouldn't make it till sunset on those roads and I usually strictly refuse driving at nighttime in Australia but we gave it a go after he told us it's nice for a morning swim as there are no crocs. Sooo we nearly crashed a kangaroo and buffalos before we finally got lost 👏🏼 There was no river. Only a small creek crossing which we couldn't cross cause it was dark and we didn't know how deep it is. So we decided to pull over next to the creek and set up our camp. Surprise surprise we were not alone. We ended up having dinner with some noisy donkeys and a bunch of wild buffalos. They didn't seem to be dangerous but they're still wild animals.. PS. Next day we successfully crossed the creek and it will be forever a mystery where that river is😂
