They are amazed at the results of new research that can help search for extraterrestrial life.
Exoplanets in our universe can host abundant life enjoying a more hospitable home than we do on Earth.
Researchers are looking for oceans in exoplanets that have "the greatest potential to host an abundant and active life," said Geophysicist Stephanie Olson of the University of Chicago.
Her team used special NASA software to model a series of exoplanets to see what would be most likely to develop and sustain life.
This led to a "surprising conclusion", which revealed that "conditions on certain exoplanets with favorable ocean circulation patterns could be better adapted to support a life that is more abundant or more active than life on Earth," said Olson.
