Hey friends! I've come here to be overly sincere with you today.
(Shout out to @alicia_dowell for giving me this fantastic mug. It's perfect for today's YouTube video because we're talking feelings and it's awkward.)
They say the things that made you weird as a kid will be the things that make you money as an adult. And none of you are into my professional wrestling self-insert fan fic, so I guess it's the other weird shit about me that's gonna pay the bills.
On the blog today, I'm talking about how to tell an autobiographical story. It's got some tips to keep you on track as a writer, as well as some ways to strengthen your prose so it doesn't read like a journal. And on YouTube, I'm talking about learning to tell my own story, and how hard that's been as a person who isn't really connected to the cultures she belongs to. Both are linked in my profile. Be forwarned! Lots of emotions in both!
And you know, being brown and a non-Christian made me the weirdest kid in my elementary school. So I'm thinking this novel I'm working on now is how I'm finally gonna profit off my childhood nonconformities.
