In the best case scenario, we’d be able to focus on all three keys and recover with maximal effectiveness. Sadly, reality is often disappointing.
Whether through our poor daily planning or unlucky circumstances, we’ll find ourselves having to decide between what will benefit us most. Should we sleep the 8 hours we need, or should we spend 90 minutes getting in our last 1,000kcal and 1L water to hit our daily requirement.
In most cases I’d advise prioritizing hydration, sleep, and then nutrition. It’s what I’ve found works best for me, especially mentally. Staying hydrated and rested will help you maintain your performance in the gym and your mood outside the gym. The most dangerous thing that can happen to your physique is a loss of motivation due to a regression or plateau.
