Where are all my Mommy’s On A Mission? ——— (long post, sry 😩) We’re so busy building empires, building content, building others, building our credit, a reputation we can be proud of, and our self esteem, that every now and again “busy” looks so good on paper but starts to FEEL like mom-guilt!
MOM GUILT sets in when you’re so busy building for yourself and others that you occasionally forget it’s 11:37pm and you still haven’t cooked dinner. Or you haven’t asked your kid how was school because your brain is consumed by your to-do list. Or, it’s the 4th day in the row your kid has had to sit quietly while you attend your 3rd back to back meeting and all they want to do is play outside with friends but you can’t because your schedule is SO TIGHT. When you buy them books but keep forgetting to read because you’re so exhausted from being on point, on brand, and on trend all day! It’s when you know you were there, but you get through the day & wonder... was I present?
THAT guilt is enough to stop you dead in your tracks. So today when my normally shy & sweet 3rd grader came jumping off the bus to tell me how she did “a Thing” today at school I was pleasantly surprised. It was her cousin’s birthday and she organized all the kids on the playground to stop what they were doing, distracted her cousin, and then got them all to sing happy birthday to her as a surprise. She was so proud, she wrote a note to her cousin later saying “who’s a better event planner than me?” 😭... and she even said, “Mom I was like a DIRECTOR or something!” LMAO 😩😅. So I’m both shocked & extremely proud that my little 8 yr old affirmed me like I want to affirm some of you! It is NOT selfish to build for yourself. So many people who will SAY things and have an opinion but YOU are the one teaching them how to move through life and go CHASE what they want & that’s EVERYTHING!
My daughter watches me show up for everybody else, every single day. & although she sometimes complains or feels it’s unfair that I’m always so busy building, at least at 8 yrs old she has learned to start building for herself. For people SHE loves! & THAT’S something to be proud of. NEVER STOP MAMA 💛 #writethatdown
