Not every day is a good day. Woke up this morning tired. Spent the morning in and out of the bathroom. Also feeling the side effects of a flu shot. Felt like total shit and extremely tired and weak. Still I made the drive. Still I showed up. Still I got the work fucking done. Might not have been able to get the weight I wanted today but something is better than nothing. 445x7, 465x7, 485x7. The 485x7 might have actually been a rep PR at that weight. Not sure. It's days like this I think about a quote by @schwarzenegger "This area of pain divides the champion from someone else who is not a champion. That's what most people lack, having the guts to go on and just say they'll go through the pain no matter what happens." I will keep showing up. I will keep pushing. Haven’t had a session like today’s in a good while! 5x5 on deads and block pulls with 315 Lat pulldowns 180lbs 3x5 Close grip pulldowns 3x20 (thanks to @pioneer_fit infinite straps) Superset with Bent over rows 10,12,15 with 135 Thanks @bigboochlifts for bringing the vibes and the pain to this training session! Really needed today’s sesh after a very challenging week. 475 lbs for four paused singles. My feet kept sliding every time I unracked the bar so I couldn’t generate as much leg drive as I wanted to. Oh well, lifting makes me happy 🤗 #powerlifting #squat #bench #deadlift @bridgeford242

Week 3 of meet prep in the books. Always feels good closing out the week with some high volume upper body work. Also hit rows, tricep push downs, and curls after this for 3x15 each.

I’m not always motivated to workout. Let me say it again- I’m 👏 not 👏 aways 👏 motived 👏 to go What does keep me going is honestly the emotional and mental benefits I feel each time afterwords. But before I got to this point here are some things that did help: 🔹Coordinate going to the gym with a friend. Or better yet make MORE friends at the gym! 🔹 Have access to a gym close to your home- don’t let time or distance or commuting be an excuse. 🔹 Keep going to the gym a regular part of your routine. Integrate it into your weekly or daily routine so you won’t even think about it. 🔹 If you have the option of going to multiple gyms or branches of your gym, do it! Even if you’re doing the same program/workouts variety and a change of scenery is good for you. 🔹 Join or regularly attend classes. Fun fact, I used to do at least 5-6 classes at various @o2fitnessclubs per week before. I never started weight training on my own until I started dating @qj67.5kg 🔹 Follow a program on your own. Classes are great for keeping you on a schedule and socializing with others. But what happens when your schedule or the class schedule changes? Or your favorite instructor stops teaching? Programs are great for giving you a bit more independence from group classes, but still give you that game plan of what to do. It can also be cheaper than paying for classes or hiring a personal trainer. Any other tips that I’m missing? Kicking off another block of powerlifting training today with max effort work! Definitely a lifetime PR here for my front squat as this was about 50 lbs of chains on top of the 275. Busy weekend with work, continuing education courses, family in town, and my daughter's birthday party tomorrow but not letting it stop me. The great thing about a structured program is that you know what you need to do then just go execute! This in and of itself saves time.
