A common myth is that protein is only for people trying to gain muscle, which would be incorrect. You should include a range of different protein sources into your diet, so here are some of the benefits of protein shakes: 1. It may help you feel fuller for longer. Another misconception is that to feel full you need to eat more carbs, and to an extent this is true but protein is as important to the feeling of being full. 2. Muscle gain - whether your goals are muscle gain, fat loss or general health you're going to gain muscle when you exercise. The role of protein is to help repair tissues damaged by exercise which occurs whether you're doing cardio or weight lifting. 3. Recovery - do you ever get DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) that lasts for a few days, sometimes all week? A lot of people don't reach their daily protein goals, which can inhibit the tissues from repairing. ||| #RiseGym #RaiseTheBar

So no one ever believes me when I tell them I have had body issues. As a kid, Bullies everyday in middle school would pick on me for being the fat kid, nerd, crybaby. This has been a life time goal. I just started really this past winter to try my best and just see how far I could take it. I was inspired to build myself up by some awsome people. 2 weeks in the gym down. A life time to go. @dustyanfuso @mikenbridget1 @lightskingeneral #workout #work #build #juststarting #beginnings #goals #healthy #weightloss #weightgain #gym #new #newbie #letsseehowfarwego @thefitnesssourcebb #motivation #inspirational #inspire #inspired #gettingmyshittogether #preworkout #protein #bcaa #beforandcurrent #beforeandafter

I used to struggle when it came to regulating my nutrition. It’s commonly accepted that if you want to lose weight, then you have to decrease your caloric intake and increase your activity level(eat less/move more). It seems simple but it wasn’t as easy to implement. One practice that significantly helped me master my nutrition is tracking my macronutrient intake. Macros or macronutrients are substances that are required for the growth and health of human beings. The three most significant are protein, fats and carbohydrates. All of these are essential because they’re required by the body to perform specific functions. Three benefits that come from doing macro counting include focusing on the quality of your food(macronutrient composition) instead of just the quantity(calories), gaining insight and clarity into the true composition of the foods we’re eating; and learning about appropriate portion sizes and eating in moderation. But how much do we actually need, and are we meeting the standards for our daily macro intake? Tbh  who knows, a majority of people(myself once included) just continue to guess and hope for the best? Fortunately there’s a better option, and it’s calculating and tracking our macros using fitness applications and websites. Sites and applications like MyFitnesspal and IIFYM.com can calculate as well as track these values based on the health goals you want to achieve.  It may sound tedious but implementing this nutritional strategy can yield the results that you’ve been struggling to attain for years.
