It’s been just over one month since the world started seeing the removal of Instagram likes 👍🏼 Current thoughts?
1️⃣ Our first initial thoughts were that we weren’t really bothered! Although one of our services is content creation and social media management, we don’t value likes as an ROI (return of investment) - we’re more interested in the backend analytics (which our clients are updated on weekly), sales, website views and more.
2️⃣ We find it interesting that people think Instagram is to blame for self worth and validation. But remember PC4PC 😂 Turns out MySpace was the real OG for transactional validation - Instagram has just surfaced it with millennial culture more prominently.
3️⃣ The concern over this validation and self worth should be dug deeper on a more sociological level. Instead of just putting on a bandaid - deleting likes, how about delivering more white blood cells to the wound - educating the public on self love, worth and integrity?
4️⃣ Content is king (sorry @kyliejenner) so there has been an increase in quality and creativity and authenticity over just quantity of posts.
What do you guys think? Has it affected you? Have you reacted differently to what you initially thought?
